James is a Lake District based photographer and videographer working in the outdoor adventure industry both for adventure organisations and for companies that use adventure activity to promote their products. He is currently shortlisted in the British Photography Awards under the drone category. He is also “Ship’s Photographer” for 59 North Sailing and Harbor Burn Cannons.

In 2018 James was lucky enough to travel with 59 North Sailing from Bodø in northern Norway up to Svalbard in the high Arctic on their Swan 48 yacht. From Svalbard they also made the 1000 mile crossing to the Westfjords of Iceland. James Sailed again in 2019 between the Chesapeake Bay and the British Virgin Islands on their new boat Ice Bear.

Also in 2018 James and Dean Russel made an ascent of the South Pillar of Stetind, the national mountain of Norway. They had prefect weather for the 13 pitches, enjoying a windless and and cloudless day on perfect granite. Climbing doesn’t get much better!

Since 2018 James has been working for Favre-Leuba, using unique adventures to promote their range of watches.

In 2022 James returned to Svalbard with 59 North, sailing this time from Tromsø and up to 80 degrees north. They spent six weeks in the high arctic exploring remote locations and dealing with their fair share of typical high latitude sailing drama!

James' work has been featured by BBC Earth, British Photography Awards, Helly Hansen, Favre-Leuba, Yachting Monthly, Yachting World, Sail Magazine, Surf Norge and The Inertia.
